Jewellery Care Guide
A little everyday care helps keep your favourite jewellery looking its best. Materials, settings, and finishes vary, so always follow any care instructions provided with your individual piece.
Everyday care
- Put jewellery on after applying perfume, hairspray, lotions, and makeup. Let products dry first.
- Remove jewellery before bathing, swimming, exercising, or doing household cleaning.
- Avoid prolonged contact with water, sweat, cleaning chemicals, and heat.
- Handle gently. Avoid pulling on chains, settings, beads, or dangling details.
Gentle cleaning
- After wearing, gently wipe your jewellery with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
- Use light pressure, especially around stones, glass, decorative details, and settings.
- Don’t soak jewellery or use toothpaste, baking soda, abrasive cloths, or chemical jewellery dips.
- Avoid polishing products, steam, and ultrasonic cleaners unless specifically confirmed suitable for the piece.
- If residue remains, ask for care advice before trying a stronger cleaning method.
Cleaning may remove surface residue, but it cannot be relied on to restore worn plating or an original finish. Decorative darkened finishes should not be polished away.
Safe storage
- Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or lined compartment to reduce scratching and tangling.
- Keep jewellery in a dry place, away from humidity, direct sunlight, and heat.
- Lay delicate pieces flat where possible, without placing heavy items on top.
- Make sure jewellery is dry before putting it away.
When a piece needs attention
If you notice a loose stone, damaged clasp, sharp edge, or broken detail, stop wearing the piece. Avoid home repairs or glue, and contact Kreative Curio for advice.
Treat each piece gently, and let its specific care instructions take priority over this general guide.
